2010 GOLD DOG AWARD for Grade Five of Clark Rutherford Memorial School

Gold Dog AwardA very special event took place on June 3rd at Kings Theatre in Annapolis Royal. Grade 5 of Clark Rutherford Memorial School in Clementsport staged a play that they had written and produced by themselves, as well as making all their own props, the proceeds of which they donated to our shelter.

It was a brilliant performance, the theatre was sold out and the students raised $480.00. We are pleased to offer these hardworking and generous youngsters our special Gold Dog Award for their contribution towards the rescue of homeless, abused and unwanted animals.

2010 GOLD DOG AWARD for Hannah Melanson and Taylor Mullen

Gold Dog Award

Animal Lover Hannah Melanson, aged 9, had only one thought when she was presented with a brand new bike as winner of the little Miss Weymouth talent contest - how can I help the animals?

So she decided to raffle off her prize at the cricket field in Weymouth on July 1st, and donate all the proceeds to our shelter. Taylor Mullen, also aged 9, joined forces with Hannah in this fundraising endeavor, selling marble buddies. Together they raised $200.00 which they proudly presented to TLC. For their compassion and generosity in helping to rescue animals and putting animal welfare before themselves, we are happy to offer Hannah and Taylor a Gold Dog Award.

Puppy Mills

You may see the following or something similar in your local newspaper or just tacked to a telephone pole alongside the road

"ARE YOU STUCK WITH A LITTER OF PUPPIES?"

Be advised that this is a common ruse used by puppy mill operators to get unwanted puppies as objects to sell for profit.

Don't be their supplier - Spay or neuter your dogs!

If you think you know of  a puppy mill in operation please advise your local animal shelter or animal welfare agency. You may also wish to check this
website for more information about the puppy mill problem in Canada:
